After a busy week, FILMART and HAF 2007 have once again been an astounding success! Results from the on-site survey conducted by Oracle Added Value show that FILMART and HAF were again voted as the most popular entertainment trade event in Asia, and we would like to thank all our exhibitors and visitors for making the events such a huge success!

11.3% from 2006 to 453 companies, with exhibitors from the Americas jumping a record breaking 26.2%. The numbers of visitors also increased 10.5% this year, with 4,094 people visiting the four-day event.
For HAF, it has concluded a highly successful edition over its three-day period, with the numbers of visitors increasing for the third year in a row. The number of visitors increased 38%, from 616 in 2006 to 852 in 2007, of which 626 were overseas visitors.

On 20 March the third Entertainment Expo (EE) Hong Kong Gala Opening took place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, attracting thousands of audience as well as top celebrities from around the world. The inaugural Asian Film Awards (AFA) served as the Expo・s opening-night special programme.
Mr. Joseph Wong, the Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology; Mr. Alan Wong, Acting Executive Director of the TDC, and Mr. Tony Leung Chiu-wai officiated the opening ceremony and followed by the star-studded AFA. World-renowned French director Luc Besson, Korean director Park Chan-wook, Korean stars Rain and Lim Su-jeong, attended the AFA alongside top filmmaking talents from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, as the best of Asian cinema is honored in the first awards of its kind in the region!

HAF 2007also had a flurry of exciting announcements to wrap up the exciting event. On 22 March, a series of awards were handed out by HAF to honor the best projects this year, with some receiving cash awards, which amounted to a total of approximately HK$317,000 (US$ 40,600), whilst others won in-kind services, which amounted to a value of HK$475,800 (US$61,000). |

Congratulations to Hong Kong director Pang Ho Cheung, whose latest project Now Showing has successfully secured his entire budget of US$1.4 million during HAF! Hong Kong・s Sundream Pictures and China・s Huayi Brothers will be the co-financiers of his 2007 HAF project.
